For Beta, I would have never ever expected a Cat 3 to to happen that late, and since I hadn't looked at it for a couple days it surprised me by being a cat 3!. BTW did it break the record for latest major hurricane??

That is why they surprised me

I think that honor belongs to Lenny. It nearly reached Cat 5 status - in mid-November.

Believe it or not, Lenny was not the latest major hurricane. While it was the latest Category 4, Hurricane Kate from 1985 was the latest major hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean.

Wilma was not a good forecast

The severe impact to the Yucatan was not at all well anticipated
