Animal names for hurricanes?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

 We could name them all after fish!

Well, maybe not. That'd never get enough support.

Jaws
Cujo
Godzilla
Leo the Lion
King Kong
etc...

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! HURRICANE GODZILLA IS ON THE RAMPAGE!

I just measured my Iguana, "Floyd" and he is exactly 42 inches from head to tail.

Spacely Names?

#26 Postby jimvb » Fri Jul 01, 2005 9:30 pm

We could name tropical cyclones after beings from outer space, with names like DarthVader, Alien, Worf, Romulan, and so forth. Then we would get an announcement like:

HURRICANE KLAATU HAS MADE LANDFALL IN THE WASHINGTON, DC AREA. HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND 12,000 MILES FROM THE CENTER.

Well, if we extrapolate his size to that of a massize cane, he's bound to
have a monster tail!

Forget Jorge. Jordan had better be the next "J" replacement storm.

Right. Klaatu comes from "The Day the Earth Stood Still", and his arrival affected the entire world.
