#1 Postby Hurricanehink » Fri Dec 30, 2005 10:36 pm

Shear is coming soon, but is nicely organized right now. What do you think? Will Zeta last until 2006?

I personally say yes.

I voted yes, obviously.

A quick question though... I know Zeta is the latest storm ever to form, but has a storm ever crossed into a new year before?

Well, according to the NHC, Zeta reached TS intensity at the same time as Hurricane Alicia in 1954. Therefore, they are tied for the latest storm ever.

Second, Hurricane Alicia did cross to the new year and died on the 6th.

Will this be the earliest storm in history and does it count as 2005 and 2006 or just 2005.
Happy New year to all.

Alice in 1954(into 1955) formed at the same day and time Zeta had advisories started on it and lasted until January 6th...
