Bastardi's morning thoughts...

#1 Postby DESTRUCTION5 » Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:22 am

Tropics: Wilma spends 48 hours near or over Yucatan and becomes the worst storm ever damage-wise. Basically, it's the Yucatan's Katrina.

The storm reaches Florida MONDAY as a 100- to 120-mph HURRICANE and hits the Keys to Miami the worst. There is still some worry off the East Coast. New position post will come out later this morning.

The tropical wave in the southeast Caribbean may bide its time with possible central Caribbean development once Wilma is out of the way.

I hope to be back on schedule this evening.

Ciao for now.

may have to eat some crow down the road for saying this, but i seriously doubt it. I would bet the farm if Wilma spends 48 hours OVER the Yucatan we will not see a 100-120mph storm in SFLA

You are probably right, however, part of the remaining strength(after 48 hours over the Yuc)will depend on how much of the circulation is still over water and it appears that at least half of it will remain over water for the duration. We will definitely see major weakening, but maybe not as much as some may expect.

we are NOT forecasting 48 hours over the Yucatan

48 over the Yuc means a Mitch type storm for Miami. JB is back to his usual overhyping self again
