A Question Regarding Naming I Received Earlier and an Answer

#1 Postby DoctorHurricane2003 » Sat Oct 01, 2005 12:33 pm

Earlier I was asked 'if both tropical depressions become storms at the same time, which one will be Stan and which one would be Tammy?"

I decided to post the answer here just in case anyone was wondering:

If that happens, then 19L would be Stan and 20L would be Tammy because 20 comes after 19 and T comes after S. :)

Makes sense. :)

What if two depressions form at the same time though?

That goes back to how the invests were issued....whichever one was invest 90L, for example, it would get the earlier number compared to one that was 91L

To go even further back, in comparison, if two invests came up at the same time, I believe it is the one further east that gets the earlier number (lower longitude #).
