Re: South Texas snow and hurricane season....
It just might be true calamity. I grew up in Myrtle Beach lived there for close to 20 years and we had the same dealio when Hugo came ashore in September. Christmas day that winter we ended up with a record 16 inches of snow on the beach I might add. The most awesome Christmas ever. What are the chances of getting one of the strongest S.C. storms on record a cat4 with 140mph winds and a record snowfall that winter as well. Makes you go hmmmmmmmmmm.Calamity wrote:With all that has happened to Texas recently, let’s not forget what happened on December 25th, 2004! It was a Christmas miracle for south Texas. Places like Houston saw their first snow in over 100 years. Other places, like Victoria I believe, saw up to 1 foot of snow.
Now I wonder… is there really a correlation between south Texas snowfall and hurricane season? Or is this year just an anomaly? Even though Houston was spared a direct hit, they still received strong winds. And let’s not rule out other places in Texas that got pounded by Rita.
We should also remember that the extreme southern areas of Texas got glazed by Emily and also received some snow in December. Most of all, hurricane season has yet to end. There may still be more to come. So thus, this data remains incomplete until this season had ended.
