bosag the BW is where my friend Larry always stays in PG. It is about the only place to stay but his family loves it so much his step-father requested his ashes be sprinkled in Gilchrist Park.
Another great place to visit while you are there that I don't think anyone mentioned is Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande. My family goes there fairly often for Christmas. It did have a bit of damage from Charley but it was all better at Christmas time. check them out at http://www.bocabeacon.com their newspaper. Lovely.
I don't think Venice is snobby. My ex-sister-in-law moved there from Atlanta about 5 years ago and loves it. It is a nice little town with soaring housing prices.
