What are your local mets saying about Opelia........

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

With all due respect. I live in Florida and it is right off our coast..so yes we worry about it.

The thread was about what our meterologist was saying. This is coming from Carl channel 4 New Orleans. Not me. Just repeating what he said at the noon news.

Here in Jacksonville, Florida: "We need watch this one very carefully!"

24 and a half hours later still the the same:
Round one now thru Friday worst of the weather will along the coast.
Round 2 a possible loop COULD bring "O" back to the SE US coast Tuesday-Thursday of next week.....

The :coaster: continues  !

Channel 5 news in Palm Beach just said don't let your guard down just yet with Ophelia, as she may be on a comeback trail according to the NHC. I guess we'll see.

Well, my local mets thinks that "O" may head ne/ene then more to the north followed by a quick turn to the NW/WNW towards the SC coast just north of Charleston, South Carolina by Tuesday.
However, the Jax Metro Area and north to Savannah, Georgia, are still in the "Cone" so they said to enjoy the weekend but tune in over the next few days to be sure that the Hurricane/TS is following the track as forecasted......
Still on the :coaster: .......

The local Viper cast has it going more to the OBX area. He barely mentioned that the line is over their studio. He said not to focus in on the line (I know that) but said the forcast moved north and let'sjust hope it keeps moving that way.

I got the impression they don't think it will actually hit here.

Jschlitz-

Here is what Pat Prokop's forecast has to say as of 8 am today. I am assuming I do not need a disclaimer, but if I am wrong, mods, please let me know. As usual, though, rely on the NHC for the official forecast:

"Weather from WTOC
(Issued Saturday morning, September 10, 2005)
Summary & Discussion:
Hurricane Ophelia is east of the GA coast this morning and is slowly moving away but the storm is expected to slow its motion and become stationary once again this weekend and perhaps even begin drifting NW on Sunday. There is no clear forecast as to where this storm will end up but it appears that it will remain off our coast and could be a threat to Charleston and areas northward. Non-the-less, with the storm off the coast, blustery winds will continue through the weekend along with a high surf and dangerous rip currents at the beaches. This will make swimming very dangerous. Most of the clouds and rain associated with Ophelia will remain off shore this weekend keeping the sky mostly sunny over the inland areas and partly cloudy along the coast. It will be very wise to stay abreast of the evolution of this storm as there is a great deal of uncertainty to its future path, but for now, it appears that it will remain east and north of our area."
