All Quiet In The Tropics

whew, so nice to have a breather with no storms threatening landmass and nothing in the near future. We'll be entering into the middle of September next week and to see it this quiet is quite reassuring, but I think we will need to see it last a couple more weeks before we start to feel better for sure.

I'd hardly call a hurricane...two invests...and an area of possible development quiet...but it is much more quiet than a 175 mph Hurricane in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

If I remeber correctly it was about 3 weeks between Frances and Jeanne hitting Martin County...still to early to breath any sigh of relief.....its only been 2 weeks since Katrina and its only the middle of September. November seems a very long way off!

Huh? I see 4 areas of concern out there at the moment. But, you are right, there is nothing threatening land at this time, so I'm just going to have more coffee and enjoy the sunshine today.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED ABOUT 400 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE
TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS IS DRIFTING NORTHWARD. ALTHOUGH THE
ASSOCIATED SHOWER ACTIVITY IS CURRENTLY NOT WELL ORGANIZED AROUND
THE CENTER...CONDITIONS APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR THIS SYSTEM TO DEVELOP
INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

A NEARLY STATIONARY SURFACE LOW PRESSURE TROUGH CONTINUES TO PRODUCE

Sure feels like it huh? No... It's been ONE week since Katrina. We have plenty of time for more development. The Atlantic isn't quiet in the slightest. We have 2 invests to watch, plus a hurricane. Just look at 1992... They only had four storms. I realize that includes Andrew, but if Storm2K had existed then, everyone would be bored to tears.

Maybe you need to check the NHC a little more often.. Folks along the east coast may be dealing with something later in the week..

but what I meant is nothing threatnening land, and the waves close to land aren't organized in the least. Yea, we may end up with a depression or tropical storm, threatening the east coast but I'd take that over a cat 2 and above anyday!!!

Im not worried about the CV season anymore. Just as alot of others have said. Once the waves move off of Africa, they just go "poof" and there is nothing to indicate that's going to change. I lost count of the amount of waves that moved off of Africa that looked very impressive only to hear the TWO write them off the next day. We may get a couple of more slow developing CV fish storms though, kinda like Maria. I won't mind that at all.

If anything, I'm more worried about the waves that form close to land this time of year, but let's cross our fingers that none of these will get their act together.
