Any info on Washington Parish?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Any info on Washington Parish?

#1 Postby lisa0825 » Tue Aug 30, 2005 2:36 pm

A friend of mine was out of the state on business, and his little girl was staying with family friends in Washington Parish. They have not been able to reach anyone there. Does anyone have any specific info on that area? He's already got friends trying the health and wellness inquiries, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to see if someone here knows anything about that parish.

Thank you. :(

The wwltv.com forum may provide some answers:

They have information on specific parishs on the site or did before they were forced to move. I hope they still do. I found information on specific subdivisions for friends this way last night.

=======
I am in southern Illinois, but I have recieved a couple of reports about Wash. Parish. I just recieved a report at noon for the Stoney Point area west of Franklinton. Many of the houses along Hwy 450 near Stoney Point and along Wilford Bond road are intact.

Lots of trees are down in this area mostly in people's yards.

Apparently at least two tornadoes went through near this area. One near the Tangi/Wash border near the fish house on Hwy 16 and another outside of Franklinton on the way to Bogalusa. The second knocked down a lot of trees and is effectively stopping all traffic to Bogalusa from Franklinton.

I have heard (third hand) that Franklinton has suffered major damage. This person grew up in Franklinton. Her exact words were that "the Franklinton we knew prior to this storm has ceased to exist". I apoligize for creating fear with third hand info, but I thought that people would want to know about the damage in the area.

May God Bless and Guide the people in Wash. Parish, LA and MS!

Thanks. I sent the blog link to a friend who is helping him. I don't want the scary sounding updates to freak him out more, so I figure his friend can decide what to tell him.
