Will the drought help NOLA at all?
I read that the Mississippi River is at almost historically low levels - will this help the situation to any significant degree? Also, Louisiana is in a bad drought- might this mean that the marshlands aren't as wet as they would otherwise be and thus might hold up the storm surge a bit?

Another point ...
on another unrelated point (didn't want to start another thread) New Orleans has been devastated by the Formosan "super termites." I expect there are a lot of wooden structures that will simply fall apart when the winds hit them.
