Is the "secret" in the clouds

#1 Postby jasons2k » Thu Aug 25, 2005 11:18 pm

An old rule before the age of computer models was to look at the motion of the clouds ahead of the system.

Looking at the infrared loops tonight, the clouds well north of the system continue to press south and the clouds in the GOM continue to push W and SW. I think this ridge is really pressing on Katrina.

Could this be a clue that this system isn't taking that sharp turn? I think it's going out into the Gulf.

same here

another observation from tonight... NHC has been taking slow down for two days... well its not slowing down which could indicate that the ridge is much stronger than anticipated, nor weakening as fast as they expected it to, system also went more south than projected from earlier forecasts....... now what this does to the final landfall point remains to be seen....

And judging by the looks of their 11 p.m. advisory map, the National Hurricane Center agrees with you too! :D

well, I lost my question in some other thread...dang, so i am going to post it here. If this emerges as a TS, wouldnt it move more westward due to the upper steering currents?
