Just curious as so many here are hyper weather involved, if you feel as prepared (as possible) for whatever happens in the coming hours and days.
As in, all preps made for home (water, food, fuel, batteries medications, copies of imp. papers waterproofed, etc.)? An evac plan to follow? A ready bag to grab? Shutters handy, storage for yard things, etc.?

After going through Frances and Jeanne last year, I can't really say that I'm ever not prepared. However, my husband and I are finishing last minute things that you can't do in June (getting the yard stuff in, making sure we do a little laundry while we have power, etc).

Other than that, yes, I feel pretty prepared. At least this time, I know what to expect. Mainly, it's just waiting and keeping a very close eye on things.

nope, dont have a darn thing ready...we have not had a storm in so long that I wait till we are pretty sure its comming here. I know, I know, I shouldnt do that, but, after years of prep, money spent, and nothing....I am better off putting that money towards groceries right now, as money is tight. Will prep when it becomes necessary.

I am the same way. We wait until we are under a warning. We got frustrated with year after year of boarding up and spending money on supplies. And the storm always goes away from us and we have zero effects. It takes 3 hours to board up our home and it is a pain to take down after. It would be easier if we had storm shutters. But, we can't afford them right now and it is in high demand right now.

Interesting and honest answers, though not many of them... I don't have a clue what that means - kids without needs to plan? People more caught up in what might happen tomorrow? Or just, plain old boring topic!
But it's interesting to me how many talk about the long lines etc. horror stories of evacuations, etc. when the caa caa hits the fan, and
how it all works out when the potential of a hurricane hitting an area is high. It's so different here and maybe that IS the difference?
Being in that money tightened scene I sort of prepare all the rest of the year, tossing a can of this or that, a pack or two of batteries on sale, etc etc in an empty space all year long and when the end has come give the food to the people/churches around here. Along with an extra propane tank, first aid stuff which is easy to keep year round... the possibility of us being hit, and what it could mean, is always somewhere in my head.
I don't have the shutter problem but have helped people with them...yes, understandable, the desire to be SURE it's needed!
I was just curious how others in high prone areas take care of business. It might remain one of life's mysteries
