Western Atlantic Tropical Summary - WATS UP on August 25, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/wats20050822.jpg">

An area of disturbed weather over Hispaniola may become an interesting
feature in the Gulf of Mexico late in the week. Some models are
developing this area as a tropical cyclone in the Gulf of Mexico.
This is worth watching for the next few days to see if the models
are consistent and if they verify.

A tropical wave in the central Caribbean is moving west and will not
develop. Another tropical wave is approaching the islands and is
suffering at the hands of the very dry air in the area.

A persistent ULL near 32N/48W will not develop into a tropical cyclone.

I do not expect tropical cyclone development in this area in the next
24-48 hours.
