Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 21, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/guts20050821.jpg">

Today's story in the Gulf of Mexico is the strong ridge over the Southeast
US and GOM. This ridge has dried the moisture in the gulf up somewhat
and has a strong easterly flow over the northern half of the GOM.

Heat advisories are posted across most of the Southern US today, so
stay in, keep cool, and if you must be outside, drink plenty of fluids.

A tropical wave is moving into Mexico from the Bay of Campeche.

I do not expect tropical cyclone formation in the GOM in the next
72-96 hours.

AN AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS OVER BELIZE...THE YUCATAN
PENINSULA...AND THE ADJACENT WATERS IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-
NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 MPH. SOME DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS
POSSIBLE WHEN IT EMERGES INTO IN THE SOUTHERN GULF OF MEXICO...AND
AN AIR FORCE RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT WILL BE AVAILABLE
TO INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM LATE TOMORROW AFTERNOON...IF NECESSARY.

Something to Watch! The NHC must be really worried or see something we don't.
