ANKARA (Reuters) - A freak tornado has killed at least three people, injuring 14 others and causing widespread damage in a small town near the Turkish capital Ankara, local media report
Television showed damaged buildings, uprooted trees and overturned vehicles in Cubuk, which is about 50 km (30 miles) north of Ankara. Two young children were among the dead.
"It was like a bomb had exploded outside. We had only seen tornadoes in films," the Anatolian state news agency quoted one witness as saying on Saturday.
Tornadoes are very rare in Turkey, though much of the country suffered summer storms on Saturday and parts of Istanbul witnessed heavy flooding. Authorities sent emergency aid including tents and blankets to the town.

Ankara and parts thereabout are usually known for their proximity to earthquakes, not tornadoes. A tornado in Ankara without a warning system would be like one hitting Miami. They are lucky that only three people lost their lives, although unfortunate. (Saw them only on film?) Did they say that? They don't have DVDs and movie theatres or television? Of course they do. It makes them sound ancient.
