Wild storms, cold front hit Victoria AUSTRALIA
Sun Aug 15th 2004
A cold front has brought storms to Victoria and given Melbourne its coldest August day in 26 years.
Saturday Melbourne reached a maximum of 10.9 degrees from a minimum of 5.9.
Peter center of circulation from the Victorian State Emergency Service says parts of Melbourne were inundated and homes were damaged.
"SES volunteers were kept busy right throughout Saturday and right throughout the evening and again Sunday morning with storm damage jobs," he said.
"We've had more than 200 now across the metropolitan area most of those for minor storm damage, trees down, branches on roofs and of course guttering that backed up and spilt water back through into homes.
"Fortunately things do seem to have quietened off and we're certainly hoping for a quieter period.
