Lets say that global warming is true...

#1 Postby Matt-hurricanewatcher » Thu Oct 04, 2007 1:22 am

Lets say that global warming is occuring right now, and the earth is warming up like it has not done in 600,000 years+ and at a faster rate. The first "thing" might be something you can look back on a record and say that 120 thousand years ago and again a few other times where warmer then today. So it is the rate that we are going up that needs to be looked at, and how much Co2 and methane is moving into the Atmosphere.

Lets also say that the increase in sea ice and snow fall over Antiarctica is a increase in moisture. In which could be a effect of global warming. Against all this is the fact that 1930s are the warmest years in recorded history for the united states. Its pretty hard to make a soild case for global warming. But lets say we are having severe global warming right now, and lets say that we have passed the tipping point. The point the carbon sinks of the oceans and perma frost is uncontrolable and will just throw billions of tons of co2 into the atmosphere into the atmopshere from here on out. What is our plan?

A few things we could do is move our city's away from the ocean. There is going to be a point, most likely around 10-12c warmer then today that the Antarctic is going to melt. Really rising the sea levels...So it would be smart to start planning in moving our citys away from the sea shore. 2# move out of the southern united states or desert areas. IT get way to hot in those areas. It would be smarter to move into areas that are not as hot.

Can't be too sure about the hot deserts at least in the SW US. The reason being that there have been no studies that I'm aware (and my son at the UofA says the same) of how the North American Monsoon system might respond. It could turn dry and hot or it could become stronger and wetter in which case parts of the desert SW would have COOLER and wetter Summers. Considering that we can't even peg the monsoon 48 hours out yet, it's going to be a while before we get any kind of supposition that makes sense.
