Yes wow, thanks Mark for that info. I checked, NSW (Australia) has recorded its hottest day so early in October since records have been kept since 1859. Temps across the state Wednesday climbed to 35C (95F) and over, with readings of 36.2C 97F at Sydney Airport and 34.8C 95F in the city itself. The actual record maximum for October was set just 3 years ago, on October 13, 2004 when temps topped 38.2C 100F.

This has got to be the warmest Canadian thanksgiving I can remember, it's absurd. I wonder how many records Canada (Ontario mostly) will break today, tomorrow, and Monday? With the Humdex in the mid 30s (C) for some, I can't wait to see what winter is in store because a rapid shift in temps. gets more and more likely.

i know!!! Not that many actual records broken today in Ontario, even though it was so warm, the heat got tempered by thunderstorms in spots and cloud cover, (Toronto downtown area got hit by particularly severe and heavy thunderstorms between 2pm and 3pm today) or otherwise we may have well broken many more records today. Also a back-door cold front was already affecting Quebec and eastern Ontario, temperatures in Ottawa have only been in the low 50s (11C to 12C) this afternoon.

But the real story today was the humidity, dew points surged up to 21C 70F at Pearson Airport in Toronto, readings more typical in June July and August, and certainly not October. Which is why it feels sooooo uncomfortably hot and humid. Also, Canadian Thanksgiving is early this year (Oct 8), it always falls between Oct 8 and Oct 14. In a few days from now, temperatures in Southern Ontario are forecast to return to normal, normal means highs near 15C 59F for this time of the year.

Red Wing, MN: 91F (old record: 82F).

Also, numerous records shattered in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Minneapolis/St. Paul Int'l Airport missed a record by 1 degree thanks to mid-morning t'storms.

Definitely a record-setting day here in MN.

I think Minneapolis/St. Paul also set a record for the warmest daily minimum temperature ever in October when the temp bottomed out at 70F this morning!

I know quite a few people that have gone to the SW for the "winter". Ironically they have record cold down there while there is record warmth in the Upper MW.

You know what, it's in the high 20s (C) here again in Ontario and the Humdex is in the high 30s (C) in some places!!!!!!! Thanksgiving madness is what I saw. I'm going to the beach and let me say, this lake effect snow season is going to be wild if the waters stay pretty good. This is funny.
