Worst U.S Natural Disaster Of 2007 (so far)

Almost half way through the year and plenty to choose from.
Only SINGLE STORMS qualify. So thats why the May 5th tornado outbreak isn't there, plus it wouldn't be a very logical choice anyway for obvious reasons.
I may have left some out, so I included the "Other" option.
The Greensburg Tornado Family is marked as May 4-5 instead of just May 4 because the cell was producing tornadoes past midnight.
Which leads me to my choice. As much as I want to pick the Valentines Day Storm or the Spring Noreaster because they effected my area exstensively, I can't pick them over the Greensburg tornado family. The cell itself produced two tornadoes over a mile and a half wide and possibly 2 EF5's. It leveled an entire town in minutes, kept me up almost all night sitting on my most memorable S2K thread in my 2 years here. Thats plenty for me.

I have to say the Greensburg Tornado.

Definitely Greensburg, although I believe that "honor" is temporary, since I'd wager we'll see a Category 3 or higher landfall somewhere in the US at some point this year, which would most likely surpass the Greensburg disaster. Just one of those hunches, you know? I think this year has surprises in store for us still.

Thats why I said "so far"
I'm sure we'll see something else.

Well since I don't remember most of those, I will say the Greensburg Tornado since that one is ingrained in my mind.

Greensburg tornado, hands down. Hopefully nothing else in any type of weather situation comes.

While the Greensburg storm was bad, it was hardly the worst thing nationwide.
I am quite suprised to see that I am the first to go with the Valentine's day storm . . . the 37 deaths and millions in damage from that seemed to make it almost a natural choice, because it caused record closings from the snow and ice in the Plains through the Midwest to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. It caused over a dozen tornados in the Gulf states and four feet of snow in Vermont . . . probably the biggest storm that the nation has experienced this year, at least so far . . .

I could not vote. There were additional very bad ice storms in the Plains during the winter of 06-07. I think the ice storm refers to the one that struck IL/MO/OK, but there was one that completely shut down the Plains with 3" of ice (don't know if that was this year though or not). The VD blizzard was pretty bad as well, and let's not forget the FL tornadoes that killed twice as many as the Greensburg tornadoes. The Enterprise tornado outbreak killed twice as many as the Greensburg tornado too, and impacted many more people.

That was the same winter storm that did all the ice damage in all those places. It killed like 70 people, so it got my vote.

The Greensburg Tornado in my opinion has to be at the top of the list so far in 2007.

OK, a whole village levelled. No need to poll...
