I had gotten a weather alert earlier today for a Heat Advisory. About an hour later this storm came through.

We had a lot of lightning and rain. The clouds were really rolled up overhead.








This is what it looks like now. We may be getting another round later. Houma looks like its going to get nailed.

Yeah, I live just north of Houma, and we are getting a lot of lightning now as I type this.

I had a friend who was headed from Baton Rouge to Alabama & she called me from the side of the road in Bay St. Louis about 4:00 to check the weather for her. She couldn't see a thing & there were really gusty winds.

We didn't get much rain Houma...at least not at my locale. The lightning was OUTSTANDING though. There's still spider lightning as I type this now. The storms sort of split as they approached Houma and then formed an intense line just to my south.

Better than having having a heat wave for sure. You guys need the rain.

Yes those storms are very impressive indeed, as they move quickly down out into the Gulf. They are adding to the overall moisture and instability of the Gulf. I think Gulf coastal residents should now begin to pay a little extra attention to what is happening down there.

We had some big lightning here too.

I miss those bow type storms that we used to get down on the coast. Dont get me wrong, the weather in Denver is crazy enough for me most of the time(I have witnessed hail 5 times in 2 months, and on one occasion it was 4 inches on the ground like snow), but we rarely get bow storms. Some of our popcorn afternoon storms can get windy, and there is typically lightening, the heavy rain is what's missing. my mom lost power with that storm today in pascagoula though.

We had some pea sized hail here today from these storms. I didn't expect such powerful storms today with high pressure aloft. I figured the atmosphere was capped thus little chance for convection....guess I was wrong....MGC

the cluster of storms moved through around 3pm.... and brought NEEDED rain to the MS Gulf Coast.... We were at Keesler AFB (Drill weekend) and you couldn't see the Back Bay from where we were standing just off of the flight line (normally, we can see the Back Bay without any problems.)

I got caught at Wal-Mart with a buggy full of groceries and no umbrella! (no I wasn't go buy another one) and got drinched going to the van thinking it was just 1 asile over and 4 spots down....right next to a buggy place....PEOPLE that do not put their buggies in the designated space drive me crazy, the lazy so and sos!!!! There were 5 buggies down the aisle to get to my car, had to move every one of them, in the meantime, ligthening started popping and the rain got worse....I was so mad at those 5 lazy people that couldn't put them 1 foot more where they belonged! When I got home I had to take everything out of the bags and dry it off before I could put it up.....growls.....

I think they were part of the same line of storms. And those were nasty storms! My DH and brothers-in-law were about 20-30 miles out in the Gulf, with the fish biting. Thank goodness they had radar on the boat so they knew to head back to the dock before the storms made it to them. We tried calling them, but the cells weren't picking up. Finally, one called and said they were in-- such relief! It would not have been a fun ride for them in those storms. The lightning was terrible! I had 2 kids and a dog in my lap! Looks like we may be in for some storms this afternoon, as well.
