Red snow falling from the sky

I got back from Denver yesterday and everything in the yard and every car in town (Craig) was covered with a layer of red. Apparently the snow fell red from the sky and when it melted in the afternoon it left a layer of red mud on everything. Kinda weird; too bad I missed it. I assume the winds picked up a lot of dust from the deserts to the west and mixed it in with the clouds.
Just thought it was interesting. Anyone ever seen it? Sure wish I got to see it like everyone else in town.

Never seen colored snow, though I've heard of it.
One thing I have seen is rain that left behind a cotton-like residue on everything.

Did you have wind too with the snow?

Yes. There are many redrock deserts in eastern Utah and Western Colorado to the west of us, so I imagine the storm must have picked up a lot of dust from there and it made the snow red.

I've been to western CO and eastern UT. I've even been to Craig. I am not surprised that the red rock particles were picked up and fell with the snow.
