Big storms over south central Louisiana

Take a look at this radar:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/latest/DS.p19r0/si.klch.shtml We've had some hard on and off downpours in Lafayette and I thought I spotted a few funnel clouds. Hopefully this doesn't become severe!

They were severe all the way over to Hammond. I drove back from Hammond today with the rain coming down so hard all the cars were going 35 on I-12.

It looks like the storms are starting to train over Lafayette, from the north to the south. I don't ever remember seeing storms do this in our area. It's VERY dark outside with lightning and thunder, infact the street lights are on as I look outside at work. Wouldn't be surprised if some places pick up 2-4" with this event. And by the way, our chance of rain was a whopping 20% for today,

I picked up 2.42" of rain at my house today and radar storm estimates show up to 5" fell nearby. We hadn't had a good soaking in about a week and a half but it sure came down today!

I was watching the Louisiana radar a bit yesterday and noticed that the it rained pretty good for a number of hours in that area.
There is even more now (at 11:24 PM CT), approaching Alexandria from the northwest. This activity contained hail.

Cars going 35 on I-12??? NEVER!!!! Must have been an anamoly!!! I've never seen anyone slow down on I-12, not for anything!!
Interestingly as all those storms headed our way this evening as the hit the TX/LA border the just fizzled and died. I believe it is called high pressure over TX. How it drew the line at the border I don't know.

I can tell you how!! It was approaching the
Kelly Wall....the invisible wall in the atmosphere that won't let any good thunderstorms anywhere near me lately!! After a very dry April and May and then in June when everyone in the area started getting rain I would have laughed if I hadn't been crying as I watched thunderstorm after thunderstorm dance around me on radar or fizzle as it approached me....time after time. This went on for weeks with me picking up a light drizzle every now and then while other folks in the area were complaining about too much rain all of a sudden. :o
I apologize for my wall affecting you but I'm glad I could solve your mystery.

Some local met said one day that weather either starts or ends at the sabine river. There seems to be some truth to that. Looks like we have a 40% chance today, we'll see if it gets crazy again like yesterday.
