Here we GO AGAIN! I cannot believe this flippin wind Had a peak gust here at the house of 63 MPH yesterday afternoon with sustained winds of 34...........the fire danger needless to say, is EXPLOSIVE, more so than last year at this time. The moisture content in live fuels as of last evening is down to 47% :o 12% less and the LIVE trees will be as dry as kiln dry lumber Haines Index, fine fuels moisture, is setting at the top of the scale, it's so dry, one spark, one cig. butt tossed out the window.............................

Another Red Flag warning for today, forecast winds of 25-35 sustained with gusts near 50. "Where's the Monsoon?"

Man... this is exactly what Arizona does not need. You are in my prayers and hopefully the MONSOON will come VERY soon! :o

what's that? Don't see any indication of that in sight right now. I may have to update my outlook ala' Dr.Gray and push the expected start date back. There hasn't been a year when it failed to occur though it came very close in the mid 1970's there being one year when we had less than 30% rainfall for the 'soon and that was also during a drought cycle. CPC has the far SE corner of AZ in wetter than average for the monsoon period but that is predicated upon the Nina taking over but that's not a given right now since although we have cold SSTA's in the Eastern Equatorial Pacific, the SOI hasn't changed and there has been some weakening of the cold anomaly on its western fringes. Also, too, as I explain on my homepage the effects of the Nina haven't shown up in the past until the monsoon after it starts-another not so good aspect about the Nina is that it promotes drier than normal winters.
