Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas in the beginning of next week ... look for the HEAT to be turned on of those areas .... the potential for triple digit heat ... with temperatures maybe exceeding well into the 100's in parts of NM, Western TX, OK, and KS ... the heat should spread further north and eastward (in response to another cutoff low in the Western States) next week into The Upper Midwestern States ... with high heat arriving just after the official start of summer ...

Thanks for the heads up Storms. It has been pretty cool here this summer with just a few days near 90º so far. Glad the a/c is working well. We may need it.

Our local OCM's are predicting upper 90's for all next week!!! I don't know why they are waiting. Yesterdays high at the AWS site near me was 99 and todays was 98!!! We did get a brief sea breeze shower this evening and yesterday evening, just enough to make it comfortable(not) outside. Just love that humidity!!

Looks like ridging aloft will be the curprit for the summer heat in the south central plains. But it's summertime, sometimes that can be expected. upper 90s-low 100s are common in these type of heatwave scenarios with a mostly cappping environment in place. So minimal tstm chances next week. However watch it tomorrow and Sunday in the north central plains. Damaging wind, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible with the mesoscale convective system.

Here in Eastern PA, and much of the rest of the Middle Atlantic and the Southern Northeast may experience our first 90°F day this week... It's going to be very hot, muggy, and dry with the exception of some afternoon convection... We really don't need any more rain, and I'm glad we're getting this dry spell this week! I'm going to hit the pool this week, that's for sure! :o

Just looking at our highs for the next 7 days and it only shows us in the middle to upper 80's from the NWS. How warm do you think temps. could get here in SW Mo?

Looks like you will get a couple of days of higher heat (looks like Monday-Tuesday) should be ... extrapolating the 850mb temperatures (running around 20C should put SW MO in the middle 90's) but another low enters the picture and will decrease your temperatures ... maybe below normal later in the week ... though the GFS is a little more robust in building heat just to your west and loops around to your north...(Monday-Wednesday).

This doesn't look to be quite as high as I previously thought for your area ... however, just saw something else that caught my eye ... look for a post in the tropical forum for that in just a little bit)

Highs today look to be around 90º with Monday and Tuesday's highs in the lower 90's. But you are right Storms... a cool down looks to be in store by Thursday and Friday with highs around normal, which is 82º.

I see the heat is spreading in and into the Northeast as well. I wanted to forecast that a few days ago ... and should have because a couple of models, particularly the EURO was pretty consistent in spreading it to the NE ...

Forecasting heat waves isn't exactly my speciality since I only have 850mb temperatures to work with and have to make a best estimate of conversion rates ...

we here in Milwaukee, experienced our first 90* day for the year. The high temperature recorded at Genernal Mitchell International Airport was 93*. Unfortunately, there was no lake breeze to cool us down.

Yeah... very hot here, too... Temperatures got into the lower 90s today... and more humidity should come in for tomorrow, making heat indicies around 100-105°F. :o

This should go on until Thursday...
