Severe thunderstorm watch until 8 pm EDT for my area (Coastal Counties of South and North Carolina)

The logistics are as followed ... mean storm vector is west to east (or 270) under a glancing 50kt jet ... typically, our highest likelihood of strong to severe thunderstorms making/developing are in patterns just like this ... storms moving from west to east or northwest to southeast ... shear profiles are usually good so as the marine influence doesn't disrupt the progression and weakening of thunderstorms in this fashion ...

Anyway .. the potential for large hail and damaging winds with any stronger cells that do develop today with dewpoints in the middle 70's and temperatures already approaching 90º. Add the front, and decent divergence aloft ... and the ingredients are set up for some strong to severe thunderstorms.

The severe thunderstorm watch maybe over, however, local boundaries produced by earlier thunderstorms have set off some isolated strong thunderstorms this evening and one is poised to move into the area withing the next 15 minutes ... with decent thunder already being observed here ... So far, no severe weather reports were reported in the Central South Carolina coastal counties and the widespread threat of severe has diminished ...

At least you have escaped unscathed so far! Keep us updated with the storms that are moving in right now please!

It's not raining at the moment, and the heaviest rains may pass to my north, however, lightning is a big story ... the lightning in this storm is very intense ...

More storms continue to fire along an outflow boundary left behind by earlier storms which let them out earlier in the Southern Midlands (gust front) ...
