Severe thunderstorm watch until 8 pm EDT for my area (Coastal Counties of South and North Carolina)
The logistics are as followed ... mean storm vector is west to east (or 270) under a glancing 50kt jet ... typically, our highest likelihood of strong to severe thunderstorms making/developing are in patterns just like this ... storms moving from west to east or northwest to southeast ... shear profiles are usually good so as the marine influence doesn't disrupt the progression and weakening of thunderstorms in this fashion ...
Anyway .. the potential for large hail and damaging winds with any stronger cells that do develop today with dewpoints in the middle 70's and temperatures already approaching 90ยบ. Add the front, and decent divergence aloft ... and the ingredients are set up for some strong to severe thunderstorms.
