Just started a meteorology internship with this local TV meteorologist:
http://www.local6.com/station/66640/detail.html

I thought it would be interesting to share this with anyone that posts in this forum. I'll be doing this through perhaps mid-July. I help prepare forecasts, analyze model outputs, and perhaps throw my "2 cents" into what may happen with the weather.

Great, Binary_Interaction. I watch Local6-Orlando from time to time. I tend to watch the other two Orlando stations more often.

I am originally from southeastern Massachusetts... moved to central Florida in June 2000. It is very nice to meet you. :)

I have a question...

What do you have to do become a meteorology internship, the reason i ask is that sounds fun and i would not mind doing that with some local tv station...thanks...

I definitely have an advantage over other people simply because my dad works at that TV station and knows Mr. Sorrells. Maybe you should drop one of your local TV mets some email and see what they could do for you.

Hey, ya never know if you don't ask!

Used to know the longtime weather guy...can't remember his name though, on Channel 2 out of Daytona.

What a neat opportunity. I know of some folks back in Illinois who had internships with Tom Skilling on WGN.

Congratulations...make the best of it!

Steve, the Channel 2 (WESH-TV) headquarters are in Orlando; well actually Winter Park, FL. The Orlando market is technically -- "Orlando-Melbourne-Daytona Beach."

Are you thinking of the chief meteorologist at WESH-TV or one of the others there? One of the meteorologists is now the "chief" at an affiliate (actually two affiliate, I understand according to their website) in Jacksonville.
