A Little Help Please About Possible Tornado Last Night

My 9 year old niece was at church camp this week and last night the camp was hit with what they believe was a tornado. It was with those heavy thunderstorms that came through Texas last night. I think her camp is located 12 miles north of Corrigan, Texas in Pineywoods. (East Texas)

Does anybody know where I can get information on this?

Thanks!!

Check the local NWS and storm reports from the SPC. Spotters may of been out that way. Good luck in finding it. ;)

I tried the storm reports from SPC and it only showed wind damage for that area. I know it doesn't have everything on there because some things that have occurred in this area weren't on there. It could have just been high winds but this is what my niece told me:

It was storming really bad and the sponsors got all of the kids out of their cabins and took them into the tabernacle and said there was a tornado. They heard a loud roaring sound and branches were falling and some trees fell over the road. They saw some damaged houses but they don't know of any injuries except some of the kids got sand blown in their eyes from the nearby volleyball court set up in the sand, and my niece twisted her ankle in a hole while running to the tabernacle.
One of the sponsors told my niece that it was a small tornado. My niece was also bragged on for not panicking and helping the other kids to calm down. They lost electricity during this too and many of the kids were freaking out. My sister and I have taught our kids what to do in situations like this so I'm proud of how she handled herself.

I know you're proud of her, SG. It takes folks with a
clear mind to lead others, and, she's seemingly
growing up to be a leader!

I'm so glad that they were all kept safe!

Then there are great leaders that find it hard to communicate their leadership to others.

62 MPH wind gusts will make sounds and scenes similiar to a tornado especially when amplified by adrenaline. perhaps the best course of action is to report the campground incident to the regional NWS so that they will send out a survey team to determine exactly what happened. p
