MT RUSHMORE TORNADO!!

BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED
TORNADO WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RAPID CITY SD
132 PM MDT THU JUN 12 2003

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RAPID CITY
HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
CENTRAL PENNINGTON COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA

* UNTIL 215 PM MDT

* AT 129 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
TORNADIC THUNDERSTORM 3 MILES SOUTHWEST OF SHERIDAN LAKE...OR ABOUT
13 MILES NORTHEAST OF CUSTER...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 5 MPH.

* THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...
MT. RUSHMORE AROUND 205 PM MDT...
KEYSTONE AND ROCKERVILLE AROUND 215 PM MDT...

MOVE QUICKLY TO A STURDY INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR
HOME OR BUSINESS. ABANDON YOUR CAR OR MOBILE HOME FOR A STRONGER
SHELTER.

I sure hope the historical landmark doesn't get damaged by this tornado! :o

At least it was a Doppler radar indicated tornado, probably wasn't an actually funnel cloud reaching the ground.

Ahh, Pennignton County, thats where Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch is, I was up there 2 years ago. Got 1 svr t-storms watch, 2 warnings, 1 flash flood warning. Only 2 showers at the camp itself.

That is such a strange site... to see Mt. Rushmore in the path of a possible tornado. Glad nothing happened!

I can see those "stone age-d" Mt. Rushmore faces all WIDE-EYED in TERROR as they "watched" the tornado near their area!!! :o :o
