ones that I have been involved in. In 2003, when I first arrived in Florida the constant rain and thundering was prevalent throughout the day and into the night. Last year there were thunderstorms and rain every day for the whole season. This year, dry with some spots here and there, but not as bad as Polk County. Is there a difference between Hillsborough and Polk County with regards to rain and thunderstorms? I just have a gut feeling this year will start to fizzle quickly. The dry air (SAL) is hampering almost very wave that has come out. I know it is still early into the season, but September is right around the corner and I have a feeling things will start to cool down am I wrong on this ? COMMENTS WELCOME.

I think the dry patteren is about over. The infamous SAL looks to be dissapating and many strong waves with plenty of moisture are currently over/exiting Africa. WIth all the unfavorable factors it is amazing we have had so many storms so far. Dont be suprised, within the next two weeks when weeks we will tracking three storms in the Atlantic. Later in the year Oct/Nov there will be more storms in the gulf and Carribean that will track west to east.

I dont think you could be more wrong. Of course only time will tell.

Who knows...All I got to say don't expect Jose for a few more days. The System in the Gulf is staying over land. No development it appears. The Eastern Atlantic has not changed by nhc. So it will take a few more days. In by that time 1995 will of tooken its lead back again.

Well, here on the MS Coast, things in the recent past have mirrored the climate you describe in your area. But in the last week or so, the wet environment - albeit very hot & humid - has returned to what now seems more normal for late August. If this is any indication, perhaps the rest of the setup is also returning to more typical climatology... If so, then I would have to go with the "non-fizzle version" to describe the remaining season.
