This is what we off shore Blue Water sailors call a 'Gale Center Low'..esp in late spring,early summer.Yes the winds are NE/onshore..BUT relativley light duty,not at all like a Winter 'Nor..The heavy blows are well of to 45nm of Nantcuket and Chatham Light.Swells to 10ft out to Windward Seas and rough/chop in the Harbors.Winds are peaking qt 35kt offshore,30 on the Coast to the Merrimac River.
HVY RA Bands ore the problem..this is a wet core system,with the Greenland Current interacting with the SubTroppy Gulf Stream off shore.
Nice temp Modifications maxed at 57-61F onshore.System is progged to move into Maritime Canada..to Nove Scotia within the forecast period thru 02JUN03 00Z.

Thank you, Mike. It was quite the storm. The wind wasn't as bad as it could be at my location in southeastern Massachusetts. I ate dinner in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where the wind was higher during the day... I was there between 6:30pm and 9:15pm ish.

The surface low sure stood out during Sunday afternoon... it was located off Cape Cod around 2pm ET.
