we were just placed under a severe thunderstorm watch until 4 pm. the spc says we are in a slight risk area with heavy winds as the primary threat also probably some penny sized hail. I live in a mobile home so I will likely leave once the storm line gets closer. Anyone know anything else on the weather for this area today?

The squall line appears to have already passed most of the Midlands as of 2 PM, and will probably be cleared of STW 217 shortly. Further south, though, the squall line is intensifying with strong shear parameters plus a good moisture feed from the ATL, and divergent winds aloft..(but fairly unidirectional which should reduce the tornado threat). From the Southern Coastal Counties in the next 2 hours should expect deteriorating weather, with the squall line's approach ... winds should generally range between 40 to 50 mph in gusts, with stronger cells producing severe level criteria wind gusts (58 MPH or greater) ... some small hail, and an isolated tornado is possible (and cannot be ruled out), but wind damage is the primary threat along with frequent lightning and heavy rains.
