Insanely cold weather

#1 Postby Brent » Sun Apr 24, 2005 10:38 am

I can't believe it's the beginning of the last week in April right now... at 11:37am it's 51 degrees out with howling winds producing wind chills in the 30's. There are Freeze Warnings not too far north of here for tonight and there's a reasonable chance if this wind dies that we're going to touch freezing or go below for a short time in the morning. It made it down to 36 this morning with the howling winds. We're expecting 60 today, if we're lucky.

Usually this time of year, it's well into the 80's with the humidity getting worse and complaints about a long hot summer starting. Not this year.

I know how ya feel, buddy. After all the 70's and 80's we've had this month (would've been the warmest April on record), these 30's and 40's (with windchills as low as the upper teens, lower 20's this morning), make it feel like the middle of January again. I look at it this way - at least I don't live in the thumb of Michigan right now, where a week ago it was 80, and now there is a foot of snow on the ground, with 3-4 ft drifts, blizzard conditions and winds gusting to 50 mph. YUCK!

Yeah... I took a walk on Monday and it was so hot outside. It was about 84 that afternoon, and the humidity was starting to make it feel uncomfortable. It's absolutely insane. I had to dig out my coat this morning.

Can't remember the last time we made it down into the 40's during the last week of April. Today has been absolutely beautiful with a temp right now of 70. It's supposed to cloud up tonight with a decent shot of storms tomorrow so even though today is perfect we need the rain!

Here at the Casa de Los Arcos is beautiful SE AZ we have seen 30F readings as late as April 30th and have seen snow in the air in early May.

We broke a record here in Montgomery, AL this morning when it got down to 41.

Today it hasn't even reached above 65. It's more like October than April.
