temps in the low 90s, DP in the mid 70s...heat index near 105...yet the severe threat is decreasing for my area?????
the SPC indicated earlier there was a 15% chance of tornadoes,45% chance of damaging wind and a 25% chance of damaging hail... now its 2%...25% and 15% respectively...
why the sudden change of mind by the SPC?

Brenda, there are other factors involved that aren't being indicated that are apparently lessening the threat for severe thunderstorms for your area. Even though hot and humid weather are needed... perhaps the cap hasn't lifted.

The CAP or some other factor is limiting it to just widely scattered/isolated showers so far here in NC this afternoon.

The cap indeed has not broken, plus the dryline lags behind. Also the first s/w energy slid off too far north for the Southern Mid-Atlantic...and the second s/w energy is also too far north as well...however, with all that said, some scattered convection is still possible, as I've noticed lately a lot of convection have been exploding in the nocturnal (nighttime) hours -

I guess that is the same thing for my area? I know that the cold front is still back in PA, but the storms that did develop in that area weren't as widespread. It's still pretty humid so it is possible that something may pop tonight.
