Looking at the first big severe outbreak possibly? Sat-Sun!

Well everyone it looks like the heartland will see its first big severe outbreak in a while.
Too begin with the Gulf is opening up for business for a change farther north....This is something that hasent been around in a long while because alot of smaller systems has been taking a trip across the deep south and robbing the bigger systems farther north of the gulf moisture.

Now like most of the systems so far this year the one comming out of the rockies has alot punch with it. Just this time we now have the gulf to give it the needed kick to set off a big severe weather event in the heartland.

This system looks ripe for beeing a good tornado producer with all the needed gulf moisture and alot of changing winds in the atmosphere.
So i expect too see quite a few reports of tornado producing super cells rolling threw the central and southern plaines. Mainly from Nebraska and Iowa south to Texas on Saturday and move eastward and continue over night saturday night into Sunday. Farther north thier could be some severe weather as well but it shouldnt be as wide spread and be mainly in the form of Severe Tstorms with Hail, Highwinds, and Heavy downpours.

I will update thru sunday as often as possible. Anyother comments on this is more than welcome... :)

It would be nice to see activity... it has been relatively quiet as of late. However, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas got hit pretty hard in the last 6 to 12 hours.

SEVERE WX...

Yeah and perhaps what could be most amazing about this storm system is not the dynamics. We've seen dynamics before. but what's been lacking this spring so far is #1 moisture content from the Gulf Of Mexico, and #2 a dry and warm intrusion aloft from the west. We maybe making up for some of this lost time today in Dallas, Ok City, and Tulsa where tornadic supercells with very large hail, wind, and a strong tornado threat does exist today as the upper low moves east and the dryline moves eat into this warm, moist, and unstable airmass across the southern plains.

Farther north, there is a developing low pressure that will explode tonight in the upper midwest. Thus winds will increase across the Great Lakes for easter Sunday morning. But for late today and tonight, keep an eye out in Des Moines and the Quad Cities for hail and a possible damaging winds threat. Even Chicago could see thunderstorms with a large hail threat later tonight. A busy day here, keep an eye on it.

nothing to report here in Central IL at the time of this post other than a few showers but it does look as though once again OK and KS are getting slammed. will be curious to see how the night goes in our area for our forecast still calls for thunderstorms with some possibly severe..

THe reason the storms didn't develop is because this spring sucks.
