Severe Wx Threat for Today 4-8-03

Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes look to be the main threat today. I would say that North Florida, the southern half of Georgia and SE Alabama stand the best shot of seeing big boomers later.

Severe weather in central Florida tonight, more so tomorrow and maybe tomorrow is possible. However, the chances aren't currently as high as they are with today's outlook. Something worth watching, with a nice amount of rain expected here in the next 24 to 36 hours.

I think lower SC should be removed from the outlook except maybe right along the coast from Beaufort southward...Right now in CHS, the wedge holds strong and the temperatures are in the mid 50's ... moist adiabatic lapse rates could produce a few strong wind gusts but likely won't mix down into the stable cool air along the surface from Beaufort northward...
As the warm front tries to make progress back northward and winds try to veer back around to the south, then surface based storms will have a better chance to become severe ...
