HIGH RISK in northern LA and southern Arkansas

#1 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Sun Apr 06, 2003 12:16 pm

A very very dangerous afternoon is expected for the ARKLATEX region. A high risk of severe thunderstorms with strong to violent long lived tornadoes and very very large hail to softball size are the main threats from northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas this afternoon and evening.

Supercell thunderstorms continue tornadic in northeast Louisiana and western Mississippi this afternoon. Meanwhile new supercells are exploding in east Texas and headed into the high risk and PDS tornado watch area. Please keep an eye on this situatiion. If you have a batteried power NOAA WX radio, have that in case the power goes out in ur house. If a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for your county/parish, go inside the lowest floor of your home or businesses in an interior room that doesn't have windows and you need to act quickly. but stay calm. If you have a basement, u picked a better place. Softball hail and violent tornadoes are the main threat. More widespread outbreak than yesterday. So keep a visual eye out in the ARKLATEX area today. It could get unbelieveably bad.
