SEVERE WX AND POSSIBLE SEVERE WW'S

Good evening. Severe weather hasn't been a huge problem during the evening hours except in Kiowa County, OK where hail of baseball to grapefruit size occurred thanks to a single supercell, which broke through the cap at 8000 feet. It was the capping or warm air aloft at 8000 feet that kept the storms from becoming widespread severe in the southern plains. However things will start to change in the next fewhours as new storms develop over northeast Kansas, northern Missouri and southwestern Iowa. A severe thunderstorm wacth maybe needed for this area in the next 1-2 hours as a strengthening jet stream combines with colder air aloft ahead of this appoaching disturbance coming in from the west. Since the storms will be mainly north of the front, main threat will be large hail up to golfball size. Although isolated damaging winds are possible as well. It's these developing storms that will move northeast into eastern iowa and northern illinois between 2-4 AM CST. Yes Jacki, u may see ur thunderstorm to start off 2003. So keep an eye out.

By tomorrow, the severe weather shifts east and gets more significant across the Ohio Valley as a cold front moves east into the ohio valley region. As the uper disturbance continues punching east, the capping or warm air aloft will break. Thus more severe thunderstorms along this boundary from indy to cincy. Keep an eye out in these areas tomorrow for large hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes. Damaging winds are the main threat tomorrow though for the Ohio Valley.

That's my evening weather discusssions. More later tonite or as the situation warrants!!!!

Severe weather development all at once, it has been tranquil the last few days across much of the United States. Now we have severe weather developing overnight, no less and this developing ice storm. Oh boy, things to watch. :)

Yeah, I fell asleep! I did hear a rumble of thunder when I woke up for a minute this morning, but that's about it, look at Illinois now though! See, the good stuff ALWAYS misses me!
