SEVERE WX THREAT, QUAD CITIES REGION...

Yes Jacki, I'm talking to you, hehehe  A developing area of low pressure is expected to move northeast into the quad cities region late thursday into thursday night while a trailing cold front moves through. As the low pressure system approaches, shearing will increase and so will the winds aloft. Certainly the ingredients are there for scattered supercell storms with large hail the main threat. However damaging winds to 80 mph and possible tornadoes may occur with this also. This threat will commence Thursday afternoon and last into Thursday evening for the quad cities area and even Chicago could see strong storms Thursday night, especially from Chicago south into Champaign/Urbana, Illinois.

I'l keep an eye on this system throughout the next several days as this evolves. But definitely an active period coming up. Also keep an eye on snowfall for the northern plains over the weekend as a bigger storm system moves through. A heavy wet snow Sunday into Monday for the northern Plains is not impossible.

Just amazing the contrasts of spring....

BRING ON THE SEVERE WX...hehehehhe BOOOOOOOM

Your going to far IMO,,,,

yes helicity values are strong,,but what else is there to back it up.

UVV's will be moderate to strong,,,,so thats some help to severe wx,,,,the UVV's will be moderate to strong thanks to the vort lobe moving east creating strong PVA and there will also be nice LL convergence.

CAPE- 0 j/kg
EHI- .25-.50

^ not good for severe wx. I agree EHI is too low, but still not impressive.

Flow aloft- 70-90KTS,,,,,,,,to WEAK.

Diffluence-yes there will be some nice diffluence
Strong LL Jet- yes

I see your point for severe wx in this region but supercells,,,,,I don't think so.

Interesting...
