I just saw that over on the NOAA website. One of my brothers and his family are headed right now to Ames IA for a high school graduation.

Hopefully it's a safe one there with no severe weather during that time. But Ames, IA is definitely in a threat the deeper we go into the afternoon.

YES....well said! Just because this is not a PDS tornado watch, DOES NOT MEAN that:

A. Strong tornadoes are out of the question,

and ....

B. ALL TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE DANGEROUS, so please, heed the warnings issued by your local NWS field offices.

That's also VERY true, Kristi. By the way, since the primary severe threat in and around the KC metro area should occur close to dark, persons will want to pay extra attention to convective trends, and even if a warning is NOT issued for a particular cell in a particular county, take action anyway. Just in case. As tornadoes are MUCH harder to spot after dark and Severe thunderstorms (upright convection) can develop in as little as 10 Min.

We take warnings seriously around here. We saw a a funnel cloud (never confirmed tho) come thru our neighborhood almost three years ago.
