.DISCUSSION...
STARTING TO GET BUSY ACROSS OUR COUNTY WARNING AREA. SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE CONTINUES TO INCREASE ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT AND UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM TO THE WEST. EXPECT SOUTHEAST TEXAS AIRMASS TO CONTINUE TO DESTABILIZE THIS MORNING AS THE SYSTEMS EDGE EASTWARD. THERE WILL BE A SEVERE WEATHER
AND HEAVY RAINFALL THREAT FOR SOUTHEAST TEXAS TODAY. A TORNADO WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS UNTIL 10 AM. KHGX VWP SHOWS SOME DIRECTIONAL SHEAR...AND SOME OF THE CELLS MOVING NORTH THROUGH HARRIS COUNTY HAVE BEEN SHOWING SOME WEAK ROTATION. THE VIL OF THE DAY IS PROBABLY IN A 65 TO 70 RANGE. WILL ISSUE A FLOOD WATCH
FOR ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS THROUGH 6 PM TONIGHT. EXPECT WIDESPREAD 1 TO 2 INCH RAINFALL TOTALS WITH ISOLATED 3 TO 4 INCH AMOUNTS BEFORE THE EVENT COMES TO A CLOSE LATER TONIGHT WITH THE PASSAGE OF A COLD FRONT.
AHEAD OF THE FRONT...INSTABILITY WILL BE HIGH WITH EXCELLENT
LIFT AND HIGH PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES (BETWEEN 1.5 AND 2.0

FINALLY-a possible day chase scenario if I can get enough coffee into husband (yes he really appreciates me waking him up for this). Question for the more educated among you-what does this mean-

Hey amigo, I had some really strong thunderstorms on and off all night. Heavy rain, lots of lightning, and house-shaking thunder. It was fun. :)

We're in a tornado watch now though and things look like they could get a little crazier after while. We'll see. If ya head this way chasing, pick me up. Maybe we could check out all the towns along I-10 between here and there. Image

Yeah kelly I saw you were getting hit pretty hard. I'm having a heck of a time getting Ken up to go with so may take you up on your offer. I just don't understand why he thinks sleeping is more important right now!!!!! Jinkies! :mad:

VIL-Not sure what 60-70 range means but storm lab says this...

VIL - Vertically Integrated Liquid. A coarse resolution image that is basically a measure of the total liquid in a vertical column, in units kilograms per square meter. Most used to identify storms with heavy rainfall or large hail. Can also be used in combination with other products to predict the onset of wind damage.

Thanks jek. Had no idea. Getting pounded here with torrential rain, but that's about it. Got tornadoes to the north of me but couldn't drive fast enough to catch them!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cry:
