APPROACHING THE UTAH/ARIZONA BORDER THIS MORNING. THE MAIN IMPACT
TODAY WILL BE WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS ALL OF NORTHERN ARIZONA. NEAR
SURFACE GRADIENTS WILL BE STRONG AND EXPECT WIND SPEEDS TO EXCEED
WHAT MOS VALUES ARE SUGGESTING. OVER EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE
MOGOLLON RIM...EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE LITTLE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY
AND THE WHITE MOUNTAINS COULD SEE GUST IN THE 50 TO 55 MPH RANGE
THIS AFTERNOON WITH DAYTIME MIXING.



BTW...there's a CHANCE of "SNOW" tomorrow "LOL!"

FRIDAY...PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW AND THUNDERSTORMS. SNOW LEVEL AROUND 7500 FEET. LIGHT WINDS. HIGHS 45 TO 55 ABOVE 7000 FEET...54 TO 62 BELOW 7000 FEET.

Winds at Show Low Muni are gusting to over 52 MPH.....here at the house, I "JUST" had a peak gust of 59.67 MPH And who says we don't have HURRICANES in Az. "LOL!"

Winds are gusting to 30 mph here today and I thought that was pretty windy. Winds don't get much higher than that unless we're having severe weather or a hurricane .

It's FINALLY dying down, "Thank GOD!" My nerves, like the trees, have JUST ABOUT had ENOUGH! Why is it the wind gets on peoples nerves? Is it the negative ions? Don't know, I "DO" know this, it's NICE being able to hear myself THINK "INSIDE" the house for a change! BTW...the PEAK gust for the day? 62.32 MPH!!!!!!

in the 40mph range down here and I-10 was closed at NM state line because of the duststorm. Can't say I didn't warn you

One reason I moved to the valley of the sun was to escape the wind. Chicago is known as the windy city, and our hometown was out in open country.

Here in Phoenix, we have some gusty winds at times, but for the most part this place is incredible with light winds and tranquil conditions.

Which is part of the reason you are so windy in Pinetop Dennis!

Phoenix and much of the Sonoran Desert is an anomaly when it comes to deserts since deserts tend to be relatively windy year round. In large part for us it's because of the wind regime change during the monsoon whereas most other deserts lie under the STJ in Summer and with strong insolation couple up to stronger winds aloft. That being said however, in the mixed terrain of eastern Arizona the combination of weather patterns terrain and Springtime insolation makes for a very windy Spring around here. Pinetop has the extra added ingredient of a downslope component off the Rim during westerly winds.

in their zones earlier this afternoon were going for SW winds developing tomorrow with local gusts of 50mph. Since they usually underforecast the winds in the wind tunnels of the Canyons in the Huachucas, I would have to say that 60+ is possible there.

Naw, Dennis, you DON'T want Chicago's winds. Take springtime's bluster in stride. Before long you will not see a leaf move in the middle of the day up your way.

That being said, I am with you about the threat of fire. We don't need any carelessness or wrecklessness right now..or EVER!

LOL Steve, I know......I graced the streets of Chicago one time, back in 1979 when I was discharged from the Navy. Flew into Chicago OHare, had a 3 hour layover, decided to take a bus downtown, I thought "My GOD....do people REALLY live here with ALL the wind?"

Ya know, no matter HOW MUCH I whine, snivel and complain about the wind, I KNOW I have it SO much better than 99.99% of the US of A.....no tornadoes, no hurricanes, no earthquakes, these spring winds makes me appreciate this mountain top community just THAT much more! Our only concern is wild fires and THAT is short lived, well, 2 months!
