Yes and it will soon be turning to severe thunderstorm warnings. Check out this radar!!

http://weather.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... khgx.shtml

We have one cell that has gone severe about 70 miles west of the city right now and acouple of others to our north also. A very definite solid line of heavy thunderstorems is beginning to form to our NW and will be moving through in the next 3-5 hours. After that we are still expecting it to rain all day tomorrow!!

A little to your east, we're in a severe thunderstorm watch until 11pm cdt. There's some strong storms showing up on radar. I haven't had time to look at very much, but I think tomorrow is supposed to be even busier.

Looks like these thunderstorms across eastern Texas could effect central Florida in the next few days.

One of the Orlando meteorologists mentioned that storms coming from the Gulf of Mexico this time of
year can pack quite a punch, and this is six weeks before the rainy season begins.

Most of West Houston is flooded to some extent. I even turned around my SUV at one point since I didn't know the neighborhood well and it was hitting the bottom of my vehicle. We have had 2.2" here at the house since my last report and are flooded in unless you have an SUV that sits higher like mine. That is the only way I got home. I got into a little hail, but nothing to sweat. However the CG was incredible and blinding!!!

What I hate to see is those radars above that show more moving in later in the evening.!!! I'll report more later if needed.

Those of you to my east-HEADS UP THESE STORMS MEAN BUSINESS!!!

All indication are after the am hours it should quiet down Kelly as far as the severe weather goes. Most of the severe action should be found east of you along the Central/Eastern Gulfcoast into the SE especially the Carolinas and as well the immediate Gulfcoast from MS to the FL panhandle tomorrow. And the same could be said for Monday as well for the same areas except the severe weather may get as far north as eastern VA and the Delmarva! Main problem i see ESPECIALLY along the east coast is possible Flooding in the next couple of days as alot of rain is expected with this system!

My daughter sold her horse, and it's being transported to California. The driver said they would be stopping in Beaumont, Texas. Just let me know if you hear of anything concerning a horse transport!!!
It does as I figured looking a bit rough tonight!!!

I'm back and safe, although a little shaky. Made it out to just past Katy, then turned back and headed to Bear Creek Park. Interesting experiences there, will give full report tomorrow. Right now trying to catch my breath.

VB, Next time, you and me go TOGETHER!!!!!

Thanks to Jim for the heads up this morning and this evening.

I went through Bear Creek Park on my way out to the West side. I turned N on Barker Cypress trying to intercept the severe storm coming up thorugh Katy. I succeeded to a point even though the only severe I got into was TORRENTIAL FLOODING RAINS and a little hail. I almost stopped at BCP on my way out but decided the worst would be further west. I found out differently trying to get back home!!!!! The lightning was INCREDIBLE and it was at it's worst when the tornado that touched down in Bellaire was doing its bit. That severely damaged a shopping center and flipped cars around. Several were sllightly injured by flying glass. At the heighth of the storms the 79,000 were without power.

It is raining again, but not like it was earlier when I rowed home. I had to drive through water about 18" deep to get back home.

And yes, it would be smarter for us to go together next time SuziQ!!!

I didn't have to leave my house...

#17 Postby Houstonia » Sat Apr 10, 2004 11:15 pm

to feel the effects. We officially had a tornado strike down about three blocks from my house (Bellaire and Ranchester). At around 7:30, we began to hear explosions as the transformers blew out. I think that must have been the tornado, as it was coming from a distance. After our lights went out, the wind immediately picked up, and we could hear things banging around the house. Wind was blowing on all four sides of the house.

After the storm calmed down, I went out front to investigate. There's half a tree down next door, very large branches down in our yard, and what looks like might be a tree or part of a tree down at the end of the street. Small branches all over the place, part of the patio roof blew off, and most of the shed is now spread over the backyard.

I guess it's good that we got nature to prune the branches before hurricane season! :-)

I'm looking at the radar and noticing more storms out just east of San Antonio. Anyone else notice this? More storms tonight in Houston, I wonder?
