doppler indications of the hook

#3 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Sun Mar 07, 2004 10:48 pm

Doppler radar indicates a hook echo south of Chesapeake, Virginia heading east at about 20 mph. This storm has produced a tornado earlier and more tornadoes are possible. Damaging winds and damaging hail are expected with this severe weather in the tidewater.

I've been watching this since 53MPH winds whacked me over here in W VA.

The TOR near Sunbury NC is "interesting". I have eye strain zooming in with RadarLab there and other than the MESO now offshore VAB, can't find anything showing a tornado there in NC. Doesn't mean the cops are wrong, but whatever was there is now gone.

Very curious to see ground obs if that was a tornado.

I'm sure future ground damage survey patterns will show a better determination as to the damage pattern with this. A home was damaged in this reported tornado in ne North Carolina. Future ground damage pattern surveys will determine further info.

Certainly.

I'm just speculating if it was SVR, not TOR. I noticed AKQ didn't indicate anything on Radar but went with an observation (which if considered credible is the right thing to do). There was a MESO INVOF the "sighting" so it may well be legit. Just ticks me off if a TOR gets down and I missed it on Radar

Yea, same one, from central Maryland. I covered Prettboy at 15.97% capacity, exactly.
