MA and NE folks
How many of you saw your first thunderstorm/thundershower of the season today? I saw my first thundershower with incredibly heavy rain, but no thunderstorms.

no such thing as a thundershower........I was taught years ago if a storm has LIGHTENING it is a thunderstorm!!! period....may not always be a big storm but if lightening is detected it is a storm...the word SHOWER would imply the system is not dangerous. So if you hear thunder, there was Lightening somewhere close..

I, for one, have heard the word thundershower since my childhood years...do you think those NWS mets are on something, Mike? :-? j/k with ya, Bro.

No thunder showers or storms today, just an inch of moderate rain early this morning, then a high of 73 following a low of 58 degrees this morning. Now its so cold!! Its down to 48!! Man I was starting to like the spring weather!! I had such an OBX-like jebwalk tonight in 60 degree weather!!

I always have been annoyed at forecasters and/or meteorologists calling lighning and thunder producing events "thundershowers."
Many times these systems do contain heavy rain, so I believe they should be called thunderstorms, too.
The Weather Channel's Jeanetta Jones says "thundershower," rather than "thunderstorm," just about every time she is on the air
during strong to severe

A meteorologist at WCVB-TV 5 in Boston, MA also uses it (or at least did when I lived in southeastern Massachusetts) quite often.
