Nice Warmup On The Way Next Week

I've been following models lately and temperature trends and they all suggest a retreat of the arctic hold we've encountered the whole season...at least where I live at! Spring for the most part is looking like it will make a nice start for most northen confines and get in on the action with mostly zonal flows and nice ridging in the midwest and into the northeast. Above average temps for almost 80% of the nation by next weekend is looking pretty good. Standby!

Yeah there's a storm or 2 on the horizon, but just as long as the cold air remains in Canada...I'll breathe easier and take the rain over snow at this point!

lmao well most of the previous snows we got had drifting bigtime. On the roof most of it is melted from a few all-sunny days and even sub-par freezing afternoons melted enough so that wont be a problem. Also we have so much snow that alot of rain will be a slow absorb....just as long as it doesnt shoot to 70 and say 2-5" rain within a week, and we;ll be ok. I'm on a hill anyhow....the only thing that will flood is my basement!

Tuesday event for the northeast will be nothing more than a flurry for most as it gets teared apart by the confluent flow. After that theres some potential late in the week but looks like nothing big,,,not enouhg stj nrg will undercut the ridge and eventhough some will link with the storm it won't be all that big basically a northern stream s/w digs down in the amplified pattern and redevelops off the coast and perhaps slams New England if NOGAPS are correct. There will be impressive WAA and ATL advection so this thing will get crankin in New England.

Overall pattern looks milder in the long run,,,,,your eaxactly right Rob.

Pacific trough digs strengthens the omega ridge out west as it heads east it will bring ewxtrmely mild wx to areas just to the west of the ridge with s/w trough and all that will lead to impressive WAA and way above average for places like Minnesota. As it heads east it will flatten some but still it will lead to milder conditions. Looks like the -AO will turn positive later in march and more of a zonal flow pattenr will be here come April IMO.

Its funny you mention the Omega...I've been waiting for a setup like that coming into spring, and this may be the pattern heading into the latter part of the week if all falls into place. NE should have a few good days in the tank and also the PC will be digging as well so the corners will be active once again. Ah...gotta love transition periods!

Looks like the southern plains will be in the sixties and seventies the majority of the week. Maybe some rain and thunderstorms as well, especially Wednesday as it looks now.
