Cold, Rainy Conditions in Mid-Atlantic

A low pressure system brought cold and rainy conditions Friday into the mid-Atlantic, the Ohio Valley and much of the Northeast.

Scattered rain fell in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, Maryland, Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and northern Florida.

Dry conditions with partly cloudy skies prevailed in the Tennessee Valley, Deep South and much of the Gulf Coast.

In the nation's midsection, high pressure made weather chilly and partly to mostly sunny in the Plains, Missouri Valley, Ozarks and lower Mississippi Valley.

In the Pacific Northwest, scattered rain fell over Washington, portions of northern Oregon and northern California. Mountain snow showers dusted northwestern Washington, and there were reports of up to 3 inches of snow for northern Idaho.

Mostly sunny skies and dry conditions were reported across the Rockies, Great Basin and Southwest.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Friday ranged from minus 8 degrees in Gunnison, Colo., to a midday high of 85 in Key West, Fla.
