TORNADO WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
428 PM CST MON NOV 17 2003

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LEAGUE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
NORTHERN GALVESTON COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS

* UNTIL 500 PM CST

* AT 426 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO NEAR
DICKINSON...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH.

* LOCATIONS IN THE PATH OF THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM INCLUDE...
DICKINSON...LEAGUE CITY...SANTA FE
KEMAH...BACLIFF

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED A TORNADO IN SANTA FE AT 425 PM.

THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN THE INTERIOR HALLWAY OR
A ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET ON THE LOWEST LEVEL OF A STURDY BUILDING. USE
BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO COVER YOUR BODY AND ALWAYS STAY AWAY FROM
WINDOWS.

IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.

PLEASE REPORT SEVERE WEATHER TO THE COUNTY SHERIFF...LOCAL POLICE...
OR DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. THEY WILL RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 100 PM CST MONDAY AFTERNOON
FOR SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

Nope, it was just issued at 4:28 CST...just a few minutes ago. This is the first Tornado Warning for Galveston County.

LOL! But I do see what you mean about the rest of that warning. Not sure what they meant to say there. Maybe it was a typo on the time.

Yeah that 1:00 PM CST was like almost 4 hrs ago now. :lol: Keep us updated as long as you can. Looks like a long night ahead for your area.

At 1:00pm, the tornado watch was extended until 6:00pm for here. I'm sure it'll be extended again.

As you know, Kelly... the Tornado Watch for southeastern Texas was yet again extended to Midnight Central Time.
