Well tomorrow (Monday) and again perhaps Tuesday some record highs could fall in this part of Ohio with temps predicted to be in the upper70s (Record is78 tomorrow) And this is with am coulds and fog which if they burn off quicker and the temps get a better jump then perhaps we could be talking about the highest temp for November beeing touched which is 80 set in 1950 on the 1st day of Nov and then anothe record high set a few days later back in 1950?????? Perhaps i need to do some more looking into 1950 which i will explain why later here and in the winter forum???? Either way after tuesday the cool down should begin...................

King, the November 1950 featured the Great Appalachain Snowstorm later in the month in which ATL plunged down to 3º, and recorded a high of only 17º on the 25th ...

Also, Charleston, SC recorded its only November snowfall (TRACE officially) on the same date and an all-time record November low of 15º.

The winter of 1949-1950 was quite warm (January 1950) in Charleston saw many daily record highs ... looking into December 1950, and January-March 1951.

December 1950 in the ATL area saw many winter weather events including a decent looking frozen precip event on the 28th.

January 1951 - March 1951
Variability in the period with NO measurable snow in January 1951
February saw an interesting temperature swing on the 1st and 2nd ---
60º, falling to 15º with a trace of snow.. only 24º for a high on the 2nd, with a low of 8º.

Really looks like the ATL area saw a tremendous amount of variability between warm and cold periods during that winter ...

However, from 1949-1951 (through the winter of 1951) there was a STRONG LA Niña. Not a good fit.

I know its not a fit SF..................More or less just some very intresting things happend that year which you have now covered! Either way i will be glad to see this warmth go after tuesday!

While our weather lately has been picture postcard weather, we've been roasting in our house! We turned on the heat a few weeks back and vowed not to keep switching between heat and A/C (same furnace/unit). We've got all the windows open and I can't believe this is November!!!! Crazy weather. We'll pay for this I'm sure. But I prefer cooler temps in Autumn.
