Strong line of thunderstorms in South Carolina

Have prompted several severe thunderstorm warnings tonight. So far, all of the reports have been from .75" diameter hail. (4 reports) Just before sunset and afterwards, an incredible distant lightning display graced the peaceful skies.

49 mph wind gust at 10:34 pm EDT with heavy rain and frequent lightning as the outflow boundary busted through the area.
Very impressive storms.

Same nasty little fall vort that Mr. Bob mentioned yesterday. The Dry air along the southern part of the US is impressive. It will be interesting to see if a major ridge develops in the wake of this over the eastern US.

I missed out on the opportunity .... by not taking the camera outside. *SF bangheads* ... But unfortunately, it's just a standard Digital Cam. Well, I could have taken some short video clips ... *bangheads again* ...

Oh, I can attest to the vigorous vort max that came through. Temperatures weren't overly warm, and the cloud tops weren't overly high yet several reports of 45-55 mph winds and large hail (.75") (and quite a bit of frequent lightning) scattered about in lower and the Midlands of SC.
Very impressive for October.
